"Cheeseburger Bill" Passes Congress

The Republican-held US House of Representatives today passed what is being called "the Cheeseburger Bill" by a 276-139 vote. The bill makes lawsuits that blame fast food chains for obesity illegal. Democrats say the bill is unnecessary.

Other bills passed by the House have made suing the gun industry for gun deaths and building industry for asbestos-related health problems illegal. Not one of these bills has passed the Senate which could vote down "the Cheeseburger Bill."

Republicans argue that lawsuits against the food industry could increase the cost of eating out and wreck the economy. A parallel is drawn with the massive tobacco lawsuit. So far not one judge has agreed to hear a fast food lawsuit.

Finally, my faith in humanity is restored. I'm so happy, in fact, I'm going to buy the greasiest damn burger I can get to celebrate.

Responsibility, it's so wonderful.

If the economy gets wrecked, that could put thousands of these manufacturers out of work.
