Year Old Chat With Ron Jeremy Lands Jock in Hot Water with FCC

Elliot Segal, who hosts Elliot in the Morning, is in hot water with the FCC over a broadcast on March 13, 2003, where he had a graphic pornographic discussion with adult film star Ron Jeremy. The FCC wants to fine Clear Channel $247,500 for this.

Clear Channel says it has no plans to fine Elliot Segal because his show took place before new broadcast rules came in effect. The new rules and wave of FCC fines came after the Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident. His show now has a 7 second delay.

Michael J. Capps, one of the FCC Commissioners, voted against the action because he feels the fine is too low. He says: "Such a 'cost-of-doing-business fine' is never going to stop the media's slide to the bottom."

Decency wouldn't be a bad thing in the meadia. But when you go after stuff thats a year old, that doesn't reflect well on the FCC. Let it go, if you wanna crack down, fine, but focus on new stuff.

  Yep

I agree with u Status-Quo. The FCC thinks now they have a carte blanche to go back and fine people for things since they can get away with it more freely now because of the Janet Jackson boob crap. Not that they couldn't get away with it before -- they are the only government appointed office that cannot be regulated by Congress (which is pure crap).

Currently, I'm with both of you. However, if the FCC were to also target certain TV shows (such as "The Littlest Groom", or "Celebrity Mole", and other brain-fodder), I might be more inclined to side with them.
