Court Says Artist Can Photograph Barbie Having Sex

A court in the US has upheld the right of an artist to take photos of the doll Barbie, some of which feature her in sexual positions. He then prints them on postcards and sells them.

Tom Forsythe uses the photos to "critique the materialistic and gender-oppressive values he believes the doll embodies" and as such he is exercising his free speech.

Mattel, the makers of the doll had argued that he was infringing their trademark over the doll.

how come that an artist an a western
democratic society has to ask a court
whether hes allowed to picture a doll
(not a kid or a woman an a horse or
a 90 year old couple) or not.
