Nationwide Gun Amnesty Started in South Africa

In South Africa 20,000 people were murdered during 2004. In an attempt to curb the nations high crime rate, the government has started an amnesty for gun owners.

During the next three months owners of illegal weapons can turn them in to police stations and not face prosecution. A person found to have an illegal firearm would normally face 15 years jail.

The weapons will be submitted to forensic tests however, in an attempt to see if it has been used in a crime, if a link is established the amnesty will not be given to its owner.

  What's Your Opinion?

ITS ON! STASH YOUR GUNS NOW!
The disarming of the populace has already happened in Australia, now its spreading to other nations. Hide your guns now, before they come for them. Once we are unarmed, they will have total control!! It will be too late then to do anything, the guns will be in the wrong hands, THIER hands!!

lol just joking!!

On topic now, whats the point of offering an amnesty, when it wont be binding until the gun has been cleared of been used in a crime? If I had an illegal gun(ie not registered), then chances are it was probably used in a crime by someone else before I bought it, so what makes authorities think I would hand in my illegal gun?
