Linkin Park Gives US$100,000 to Tsunami Victims

Members of the rock band Linkin Park have set up a charity organisation called Music for Relief, and have themselves donated US$100,000 as an initial sum to start up the charity. Any proceeds will go to the American Red Cross for the tsunami victims.

The band said: “We are fortunate to be in a position to help, but this needs to be a broader effort. If one of our fans can donate $10, then that's going to help ... We are also going to appeal to our musical peers by asking them to donate as well."

In the summer of 2004, Linkin Park played to sell-out crowds across Asia – in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, all of which were badly affected by last week’s earthquake and subsequent tsunami.

  Fair play
Celebs are still a drain on society, but at least a few of them are a decent bunch ;)

That's cool, they're still my least favorite group
Nice thing to do. Anyone who likes them is still gay.

  Well..
I'm sure there are other bands who have donated, they just don't feel the need to do it publicly.
Public or not, still a good thing to do.

  Question
Does Sandra Bullock earn 10x more than LP? (Remembering that LP is of course, a band, which means multiple people)

  still a stupid pissing contest
There is a morbid fascination with how much money gov'ments/celebs/organizations are donating to disaster-relief.

What's wrong with people? Any contribution is good. My comparitively meager donation is just as good, in spirit, as some rock and roll band's...

Hooray for everyone!
