eBay Will No Longer Support MS Passport

Software giant Microsoft has confirmed that internet auction giant eBay will no longer support the company’s Passport service. Despite the loss of backing from one of its biggest backers, Microsoft has said the service will remain.

EBay announced to users on Wednesday that as of later this month, the site will no longer allow its users to log in through the Microsoft Passport system. MS Passport was launched in 1999 and has failed to achieve its major goal.

Initially, the service was meant to gain a key position in eCommerce transactions, allowing users to store passwords and credit card details on the Web. Concerns over privacy and security has proved to be a major handicap.

  Finally.
I hope a few more online businesses will do the same. MSN's Passport system still has alot of security holes. It is still possible to reset someones hotmail/msn password and send the new one to an alternate email of your choice (NO, I am not going to tell you how to do it, so dont ask). Nice to see eBay is still working on protecting its users security.
