Chevrolet Announces PT Cruiser Rival

Chevrolet will release a new retro-style car the LA Motor Show on the 5th of this month. The HHR will hit dealerships during the second half of this year. It combines the styles of the 1949 Chevy pickup with the 2004 SSR retro pickup.

A spokesperson for General Motors said: “The HHR is what you want it to be, whether you're hauling band equipment around the country or hauling your friends across town." It will go in direct competition with Daimler’s PT Cruiser.

The car will be offered with two different twin cam engines, both equipped with counter-rotating balance shafts. One engine will have 140 horsepower and the other 170.

  HHR...
...should stand for Horrible Horse Rectum... because that's what it looks like.

What is up with all the retro "heritage inspired" designs from the big 3? Aren't their products good enough to stand by their own merit without having to resort to the nostalgia gimmick?
