37-year-old Tino Martinez has re-signed with the New York Yankees after leaving the team three years ago. The new contract will go for 12 months. He played for the Yankees for six seasons between 1996 and 2001.
In his time on the team, the Yankees won four World Series Championships but three years ago, the team decided not to renew Martinez’s contract after finding that his career was going downhill. He is set to replace Jason Giambi.
Playing for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2004, Martinez hit .262 with 76 RBI and 23 home runs in 138 games. For the two seasons before that, Martinez was signed to the St. Louis Cardinals.
