Passengers Angry at “Cruise to Nowhere”

A new route for Carnival Cruise Line turned out to be nothing last week after one of the cruise ships experienced technical difficulties and ended up sitting off the coast of Pensacola for four long days.

The Holiday was set to depart from Mobile, Alaska and travel down to Mexico on the 30th of December. Now, however, tourism officials are reporting they have received many complaints from passengers on the sold-out cruise.

Passengers were not alerted to a problem or the cancellation of the Mexico stop until they boarded the ship. Some decided to stay onboard and continue, while others looked for a refund or a free cruise. Carnival has not said whether they’ll refund.

  'Where is the Love' Boat?
yeah- nothing like retired old folk on a pension with nothing but time on their hands to wreak fury and havoc upon a dumb business.

So they complain AFTER they have been notified, and AFTER they could have disembarked, and AFTER the cruise is over.... brilliant, folks. Maybe a lawsuit won't work.

  Injured?
Oh please! How did this blood-sucking attorney come up with “These people have been injured and they need to make the people whole in some way”? Injured? Did someone drop the ship on them? I willing to bet that Carnival did not have this planned out. Yes I agree that some sort of restitution is due. Carnival needs to suck it up and offer these people a free cruise of equal or lesser value. Since a lot of people only get one vacation a year and many of them probably had to save up for it, these tickets should be good for at least 5 years. Mechanical difficulties happen every day. The next time my flight is delayed I’ll call on this rip-off artist and have her sue the airlines for injuring me.

  Some compensation is in order
There were no injuries caused by this issue as that blood sucking lawer claims but some compensation should be granted and the reason is simple: you pay for a cruise with stops in x, y and z... due to incompetence of the cruise line to provide better maintenance to their ships (as opposed to bad weather) the shcedule was changed and now you will only visit y and z... fact of the matter, you pay for 3 stops and you get only 2. Even worse, in this case they paid for a single stop that was not made. Some people travel far just to get to the departing point.

This is the same as buying a car with a sunroof and not getting it but still be required to pay full price.

100 bucks is not a compensation, it's a trap for people to spend another 200 to be able to redeem this "credit", I think they should recieve a free cruise, even if it's a smaller one (one night cruise or something like that). It's already bad enough that this companies take advantage of a bunch of senior citizens on their vacataions
