President Bush Endorses Commercial Space Flight

In a policy statement released yesterday, the Bush administration plans to give private enterprise a bigger role in space exploration and endorse new commercial markets, especially in human space flight.

The statement read that the decrease of interest from commercial enterprise had had a very negative affect on the US space industry. It also read that commercial interest is vital to protect America’s security and role in space exploration.

President Bush said in the statement: “The U.S. government must capitalize on the entrepreneurial spirit of the U.S. private sector, which offers...opportunities to open new commercial markets, including public space travel."

One Small Step for Bush, One Giant Leap for Profit
I wonder who put him up to this? In some ways this could be the greatest step in space exploration since Kennedy got the U.S. to the moon.

On the other hand, the Bush Administration is filled with business people and they might be investing.

.... or perhaps they know the end of the world is upon us and the only way to save people is to push private space-exploration. haha.
