According to French Interior Minister Dominique de Villepin, a program to "combat extortion, drug trafficking, all forms of discrimination and violence" at school was launched today.
Police around the country operated at selected schools by taking random identity checks to scare off drug dealers. The feelings on the campaign were mixed: Some people liked while others refused it.
In 2004 there were over 80,000 crimes at French schools which approximates a rise of 13 % on the previous year. To prevent criminal activities, a police officer will be assigned to every school around France.
