Transportation Security Administration Tests "Secure Flight"

The Transportation Security Administration in the US are testing a computer system which checks passengers details against terrorist watch lists. The system is called "Secure Flight". Testing of the system started on November 30th 2004.

TSA spokesman Justin Oberman told the press: "The technology is working, doing exactly what we wanted it to do." The US handles approximately 1.9 million air passengers daily and part of the ongoing testing will be to see whether the system can cope.

Ms Hofmann, attorney for the Electronic Privacy Information Center said: "The redress process is still a question mark. The ability of individuals to access and correct info. that is being used to make determinations about them is still at issue."
