The officers in charge of the missing student Sally Geeson case are now working on a murder inquiry. The body found on Friday was identified as Sally. A post-mortem examination took place yesterday and the cause of death was found to be asphyxia.
Sally, 22, went missing after a New Year's party in Cambridge. Her body was found naked in woodland just 3 miles from the pub where she had last been seen alive. Further tests will be carried out to see if she was the victim of a sex attack.
The family released a statement saying: "Our beautiful daughter has been taken from us and words cannot begin to express our heart-ache at this time. Sally was a wonderful and loving daughter, sister and friend and we are simply devastated."
