The cabin crews on numerous Alitalia flights across Europe went on a mini-strike on Friday, refusing to serve the passengers snacks. The employees are protesting against current working conditions.
In comparison with the crippling strikes staged last year, that bought the company to a standstill on occasion, this latest move is small and seemingly insignificant. The airline threatened the crews with legal action if they participated.
One Union representative said: “This is an unusual way to get the attention of Alitalia which won't mean big problems for passengers." Alitalia is planning to cut 3,700 jobs in an effort to slash rising costs.
