Fourty people have been killed today after their bus crashed into a canal in the Indian state of Karnataka, police have reported. Police said: “The bus fell into a deep canal of the Almatti dam. The water there was about 15 to 20 feet deep."
It seems the driver lost control of the vehicle on a sharp curve. At least 40 bodies have been retrieved from the water by rescue workers and 9 passengers swam to shore after the accident. In all, there were 66 people on board the bus.
