Ukraine to Withdraw Troops from Iraq

The parliament in Ukraine has voted for an immediate withdrawal of Ukraine troops from Iraq. Outgoing president Leonid Kuchma has already stated the country’s peacekeepers will be withdrawn from action in Iraq early this year.

Parliament, however, voted 308-0 for an immediate decree that would see troops quickly withdrawn from the war-torn country. Some suspect the withdrawal won’t take place until president-elect Viktor Yushchenko takes office.

8 Ukrainian troops died at an explosion at an ammunition dump over the weekend and while the government reported the explosion had been an accident, comments made by an Army officer sparked speculation of a terrorist attack.

  Wow
308-0? Holy crap, you'd think one person would be against withdrawing troops, well maybe every person in the Ukraine Parliament is intelligent. :)

  Intelligent?
 LOL>...who needs them anyways.
Cowards are not helping over there. We need Men not BOYS.
Why don't everyone including the US pullout...oh yeah..who would we be deserting? Do you really think that would be good for Iraq? The people? They would just be some poor third world country taken over by militia groups that would have civil wars and the people would suffer.

  Is the Ukraine decision right?
 TOBYKIETH:
You do realize that Iraq, even though they were in war with Iran for 10 years, they still had one of the highest income per capita in the world, they were friggin rich Before bush the dad attacked.

You do realize that Kuwait stole oil from Iraq during the iraq/iran conflict.
You do realize that it was american oil companies that stole the oil from Iraq to Kuwait (only american oil companies are allowed in there).

After Bush the dad attacked. Iraq remained poor only because of the embargo by the states.

Last year Russia, China and F*ck*n France inored the embargo and decided to do business with Iraq.

The french built a refinery in Iraq, the only non-american refinery in the area. The very first target the states hit was the french-fries refinery to punish them for not playing hard-ball with saddam.

The states was hoping for a quick resolution to the conflict so they can move on and hit a--holes in Sudan.

The states were also hoping they will remain the only players in the area.

Now that things are not going well the states is asking for assistance and probably the US will have to share some of the oil to those helping them.

If Ukraine is pulling out 100% then I can only assume Ukraine was forced in there by the Russians and that only Russia was getting a share and the Ukrainians were just getting sacrficed.

The ukrainian will probably agree to get back in Iraq if the US gives them a share.

As a chrisitan arab, i can testify that of all the arab countries iraq was one of the most tolerant to christians.

Early in the game Saddam learned the danger of fanatics after he saw Anwar el-Saddat assasinated in 1981 (by ossama bin ladin right hand man Ayman al-Zawahiri)

For decades, Saddam made it a vocation to hunt down and kill any member of an extremist organization. For that the USA loved him, unfortunately, Dick Cheney loved the oil more.

So now instead of hunting down the extremist and the saudi f*ck*rs who are still funding them. The USA is in a nervous alliance with the Saudis.

Now here is the view from above:

1. Either you believe the USA is Rome. All roads lead to Rome, Then Oil is the most important factor, then you can judge Bush by how much oil he was he able to secure in the area. without compromising the US's reputation & security too much.

2.Either you believe USA is the Good Empire. The ideals of freedom is the most important. Then you can judge Bush by how much he was able to enforce the reputation of the USA without compromising too much security and oil.

3. Either you believe USA is Atlantis, the diamond in the rough. It has to be protected, as such you can judge Bush by how much Security he provides without compromising too much oil.

It is within Bush's right to be any of the above 3 there is no wrong answer.

The problem is he is trying to portray to the US citizens that he is doing the job of America the Good when he believes all Roads lead to Rome and that nothing should stop between Rome and its oil.

The result is a system that has become very capable of "covering" things up and that in my opinion "covering up" is the worst threat american democracy is facing.

I would like to hear any comments about the above, specially from americans. I know my facts but opinions are harder to come by.

That was the most informational, pointed, relevant, -- I cannot say enough for what you have just said.

Your insights are so very much needed here and throughout all media.

My great compliments to you.

(I would have roughly said the same thing, minus personal insight I do not have; kmazzawi covered the important points and then some)

opinions are hard to come by?
I would have believed it the other way round, as noone really knows the truth behind bushes actions except for bush. All else is opinion and supposition.

  Crumbling Coalition of the Willing?
The Dutch troops will retreat in March this year as well and replaced by British troops, because a national agreement was made 1,5 years ago to end the term in March. There was some discussion in Dutch Parliament a week ago whether or not to extend our presence, till the Iraqi people could take over and the area al-Muthana is more safe. Personally, I was against the presence of our troops and this war in the first place, but I do not have big objections if our government decided to extend the mission to help the Iraqi people. And on that point I agree with Tobykeith for probably the first and hopefully the last time. ;)

Interesting post kmazzawi! Of course, this war is all about oil and US supremacy in the Middle-East initiated by some BS-reason that Saddam was a threath to world-peace and Iraqi people should live in "democracy". I read a post in another SN-article which made a comparison between Hitler invading Austria, and Poland and Bush invading Afghanistan, Iraq and in the near future Iran. As you all know, the invasion of Poland lead to WWII.
