Twelve people have been killed and twenty-one are still missing following landslides in the US state of California. The mudslides are a direct result of the recent downfall of heavy rain in the western state.
Unusual weather patterns has brought snow to the north of the state and devastating storms to the south, which normally experiences seemingly mild weather. Rescue efforts resumed today before dawn. At least 8 people have been injured.
Emergency service officials are still unsure as to whether the 21 missing persons were out of town when the storm hit, or if they were caught up in the landslides.
