Four employees of the CBS television network have been fired in the aftermath of a controversial story aired by the network which claimed President Bush had used family influences to avoid serving in the Vietnam War.
An independent report stated that the network had been driven by a "myopic zeal" when breaking the story which aired on the popular and influential show “60 Minutes.” Also, it aired at the height of the election campaign.
The controversy after the report caused “60 Minutes” anchor man Dan Rather to resign from his post. The four employees who were fired include the report’s producer Mary Mapes and three CBS executives.
