A 47 year old father-of-two from the Manchester (UK) area has been disowned by his family after he let them believe that he was killed in the Asian tsunami when all the time he was in prison because of child pornography crimes.
Mark Doogue had told his family that he was working as a chef in Phuket, Thailand in December when he was actually in prison. When the tsunami struck on Boxing Day he kept silent, with his family frantically searching the Red Cross website for news.
At the end of last week a police liaison officer contacted the Doogue family and told them that he was safe and well. Since then the relatives have disowned him and are 'disgusted' at the crimes that he has committed.
