The successful sales record in Canada is being seen by DaimlerChrysler as a positive indication to the car's potential on the US market. A Smart Fortwo can be seen at this week's North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Dr. Eckhard Cordes, Board member of DaimlerChrysler, responsible for the Mercedes Car Group (MCG), said: "Smart has become a strong and important brand of the Mercedes Car Group."
In cooperation with Mercedes-Benz USA, a service and sales network for the Smart is already in the process of being set-up in America.
