British Airways announced yesterday that it would no longer be flying from Britain to Saudi Arabia as from March 27th. It says the decision is for commercial reasons.
"The decision to suspend flights between the U.K. and Saudi Arabia is a difficult one," BA's director of commercial planning Robert Boyle said. "However, the routes don't currently make a profitable contribution to our business...."
Currently BA fly four times a week from Heathrow to Jeddah and three times a week from Heathrow to Riyadh. Customers who have already booked flights scheduled for after March 27th will be contacted by BA.
