Granny Confuses Superglue For Eye Drops

A 78 year old great grandmother in Australia reached out for what she thought was her allergy eye drops when her eyes started to water but instead she'd actually picked up a bottle of Loctite 401 superglue.

The woman had to be rushed to hospital in the Sunshine Coast suburb of Wurtulla, Australia and a nurse had to apply vegetable oil to help unstick her eyes. Fortunately no permanent damage was done as the solution did not set.

The grandparent feels that she had additional help that prevented any serious consequences. "I had God on my side, so when you have got him, you don't have to worry about anything." she said.

  Now thats blind faith.
 Why did God let you put superglue in the first place. Where was the booming voice "READ THE LABEL MY CHILD, THAT IS SUPER GLUE SILLY"?

  oh please

  Daaaaaamn
 I've heard of (seemingly) myths like this but I guess no longer. ;) Anyways it's good there was no permanent damage but her eyesight must be pretty bad as it is!

  God was on her blind-side
 no comment really. I just wanted to add my pun.

  Oh per-leez
 The second anything bad happens, it's "Mankind" at fault.

The second anything good happens, it's "God" 's work.

It's either one or the other people.

  question
 why was she keeping superglue and eyedrops together?

dunno about anyone else, but eyedrops and other 'medical' stuff is kept in a cabnet in the bathroom, and superglue etc is kept with hardware, hammers saw's etc.

  It Appears
 that she was keeping both in her refrigerator to keep them cool. An accident waiting to happen?

I know - I'll keep my hair-drier in my drawer right next to the loaded Colt 45. What could possibly go wrong?? ;)

  @theironboard nice, lool
 nice play on words, haha, oh man, who leaves super glue lying around anyway?

  @Gatsby
 I'm it's the very fact that she was fine that people are making jokes. If her eyes had melted or something people would be a lot more sombre.
 by: vgslag   01/12/2005 04:38 PM
  OMG
 I think about this happening a lot, about people confusing superglue and eyedrops, nasty. I used to use lots of superglue (for the purposes of gluing before anyone makes any other suggestions) and some of the bottles could very easily be confused with eye drop bottles.

  LOL....
 ....quote from source...."She said she now keeps her Loctite 401 instant glue in another fridge to avoid any further confusion."

Why does she keep it cooled? I don't think glue has to be kept cool....give it a couple more months and we'll hear of this same lady adding this glue to her salad or something.

  @Flashby
 You know that has happened before, but it was a lady with aesthma. She woke up one night with an attack, and she reached under her pillow for her inhaler, unfotunately she also kept her 45 there and well, it was a sad sad way to die.
 by: robbob     01/12/2005 06:37 PM
  Ergh
 Her inhaler must have been of an odd design to confuse with a 45. I've seen cigarette lighters and novelty licorice shaped like guns but not inhalers. Dangerous stuff.

  Poor woman
 At least no permanent damage had been done. As for God being on her side, read the priest dying during the sermon story. That God plays no favorites, let me tell you.

  Labels
 Maybe God should put bigger labels on Super Glue bottles.
