In Springfield, Massachussets, both a 12-year-old boy and an adult woman have been charged in the rape and murder of a 3-year-old boy left in the care of the woman. Under law, the name of the older boy isn't revealed. Marisol Alverio is the woman.
Earlier Wednesday the youth was arraigned and ordered held without bail in Springfield Juvenile Court. The woman is scheduled to be arraigned in Springfield District Court Thurday. The charge is murder and reckless endangerment of a child.
Jeremy Rosario Milan died two days after being hospitalized with bruises and a severe head injury. He had been raped at least twice and beaten several times between December 11 and 17, 2004.
