Global High Blood Pressure Rates to Dramatically Increase

As people in poor nations are living longer and are undergoing unhealthy lifestyle changes, researchers at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine say over a billion people will suffer from hypertension in 2025.

30% of all deaths globally are attributed to cardiovascular disease. This figure could increase as hypertension increases. The highest prevalence of hypertension is being seen in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Affleunt nations have seen stable or decreasing hypertension rates. The best way to combat hypertension is increasing exercise, eating more fruits and vegetables, reducing weight and cutting salt and alcohol consumption.
