Famous Gondolas Run Aground in Venice, Italy

The new moon alignment of the Earth, Moon and Sun has caused all but the Grand Canal to become dry. The resulting very low tide means that the gondolas that cater to tourists and residents have no way to fully navigate the lagoon city.

Low tide water levels are at their lowest in a decade. The lowest level record was set in 1934.

Tourists are being assured that this is only a temporary condition.
