Next Bond 007 Film Delayed Again

A series of rows between Bond producer Barbara Broccoli and distributors MGM have seen the latest James Bond 007 film delayed further. Originally due for release in November 2005, the film still has no star, script or director.

Barbara Broccoli wants to return to the style of film her father Cubby Broccoli pioneered, serious and plot-driven, while MGM want to keep with the gadgets, stunts and big-budget special effects type of film.

A Hollywood insider says: "It does not bode well. There is a lot of ego, money and belief at stake - no one is backing down. The Broccoli camp believe they are the keepers of an untouchable tradition, and the money men want their megabucks."

  Good for the family

Most of the older films have been shown in chronological order on a couple of different US networks recently. Its pretty clear that the family has a point from an artistic POV. Plot mattered, even campy plot, in the first 6 or even 10 films.

They cannot bring back Connery in his prime, but they can bring back the spy on spy movie. Most of the new ones make the old Matt Helm films seem serious.

  I don't get it....

...if the films gain more integrity through better plots and more of a story won't it be more popular for the money men to get their bucks?

'Die Another Day' was a terrible film as far as plot goes, I thought it was just a poor re-hash of 'Diamonds are Forever' with minimum story and unbelievalbe special effects.
James Bond has better breading than that.

  ugh double o shite

The last three bond films have been utter crap. Tomorrow Never Dies, World is not Enough, Die Another Day.

Each ones a fest of crappy gadgets, yawnfest plots and the worst Bond villains ever.

- A Rupert Murdock character (yawn)
- A Frenchman who can't feel pain but wasn’t even the main villain (double yawn)
- A Korean who turns into a pasty faced nobleman and who steals ideas from no less than like half a dozen other bond films (yawn yawn yawn)

Rubbish, utter crap.

Please don't hire wacky mid twenty something writers, hire people who know what they're doing.
