The writer and producer of a book and documentary series, Alistair Moffat, with help from Professor Bryan Sykes of the Oxford Ancestors Project, has revealed that one in five Scots carry DNA originating from Iraqi ancestors.
His research has led him to the conclusion that farmers from around 4000BC colonised Scotland along with hunter-gatherers from England and northern Europe. Moffat believes the early Scots were far more civilised than was previously thought.
According to him, fledgling Scots actually spoke Old Welsh before the Gaelic language evolved. The writer also claims that Atlantis actually existed, in what is now called the North Sea.
