Elvis Presley is still the King, the re-released 1959 hit "One Night" was announced the UK's 1,000th number one in the singles chart today. The limited-edition re-release sold out within hours of its release.
Sid Shaw, owner of a London Elvis memorabilia shop and author of Elvis books said: "He's as popular as he ever was, especially in Britain. There's something in his voice, his songs, his moves, you just can't forget him."
The UK charts now plans to include legal internet downloads, "At the moment the official chart isn't the most reliable indicator of what people are buying. It will be as soon as they fold in the downloads." Radio DJ and pop music historian Paul Gambaccini said.
