World's Largest Passenger jet Coming Out This Week

AirBus is unveiling its 555 passenger A380 on Tuesday, and so far, the company says sales have been above the company's expectations. For 2 years in a row, AirBus has been selling more airplanes than rival company Boeing.

The new plane has two decks, four engines, four aisles, and it will be unveiled in Southern France this Tuesday. On March 31st, it will have its maiden voyage. The plane weighs 308 tonnes.

The headache for the company is costs since they overbudgeted the cost to develop the plane and came up with a plane that weighs more than its predecessors. AirBus maintains that it will improve fuel efficiency but many wonder how, given the weight.

  screw bigger, we want faster!!!

I don't care if they develop a flying skyscraper, that can hold a million people at a time, we all want faster jets that can get us from a to b in half the time.

Most asinine thing ever was retiring Concorde, jet technology going in reverse?

I say again, develop affordable supersonic travel and the world will fly with you.

The problem with making faster jets that go A->B is the g-forces involved in supersonic flight. You can't have an old lady in her 80s on a jet that takes off and hits supersonic speeds in a few minutes, most people would not find it enjoyable. This is why supersonic flights would have to slowly gain speed then drop it slow as well, so the change is gradual. This would increase flight time as well, so you will always hit a barrier as to how fast passanger jets will travel.

  ON A 747

On a 747 it take up to an hour to board, sometimes even longer, just think how long this will take to fill. The 747 is a proven aircraft and has a long history. The 747 was going to be a double decker, but they had a design problem with it. They redesigned the 747 in a few months, the 747 almost bankrupt Boeing. Lucky they had very good engineers to pull it off.
