Dodge and Volkswagen have been named the joint winners of the first-ever LA Auto Show’s Design Challenge for the Dodge Superbee and the Volkswagen Mobile Lounge. Design studios were to create the “Ultimate LA Machine.”
According to an executive at Mazda Research and Development, Los Angeles is the city with the highest number of Auto design studios in the world. The “Machines” submitted were not real cars, rather 2-D models.
The Dodge Superbee was designed by DaimlerChrysler’s Pacifica Design Centre and the Mobile Lounge was designed by the Volkswagen/Audi Design Centre. Other entrants included BMW, Ford, Hummer, Mazda and Mini among others.
