With 36 million copies of the game sold already, The Sims could yet be the next big thing - on the TV. The games producers, Electronic Arts (EA) are considering turning it into a massive reality television show that includes audience interaction.
The conversion to soap opera would seem to be a good one when you bear in mind that an estimated 60% of the players of the computer version are women. Now that digital TV has arrived to the masses, the potential for such a reality game seems real.
"One idea could be that you're controlling a family, telling them when to go to the kitchen and when to go to the bedroom. With this mechanism you have gamers all over the world 'playing the show'." said EA Europe representative Jan Bolz.
