Computer Game 'The Sims' May Become a Reality TV Show

With 36 million copies of the game sold already, The Sims could yet be the next big thing - on the TV. The games producers, Electronic Arts (EA) are considering turning it into a massive reality television show that includes audience interaction.

The conversion to soap opera would seem to be a good one when you bear in mind that an estimated 60% of the players of the computer version are women. Now that digital TV has arrived to the masses, the potential for such a reality game seems real.

"One idea could be that you're controlling a family, telling them when to go to the kitchen and when to go to the bedroom. With this mechanism you have gamers all over the world 'playing the show'." said EA Europe representative Jan Bolz.

  the point of the game...
 ... is not to follow the rules and raise some happy nuclear family. the point of the game is to download hacks and cheat objects that keep your family blissfully unconcerned while you breed them over and over with aliens to see exactly how freakish and mutant their offspring become.

  nah the point is
 The point is to gather up with your dorky freinds who couldn ot harm a fly in real life to create sim mafia and target other players and nock them off for money.

I seen this as a news article once before where people who did not want there faces shown where telling viewers how they control the sim games as a organized mob and then on the other side you had players who could not stand them. It was real funny to watch.

  Why not?
 We have plenty of "reality tv." (I use that term VERY loosely...pile of garbage if you ask me...). So, why not have a reality tv show...about a game...that is a simulation...of reality?

Wait...that's overly redundant...

  It'll Sell
 I could appear on TV telling ppl to buy a brick because its....erm....a really useful object to have, and the moronic watch-tv-every-nighters would be ringing in their orders by the thousand. TV is their god, it tells them what to think. A TV series based on a game based on reality will sell simply because its on the TV. No other reason required. Sadly.

  @ganjaman
 LMAO. considering the latest one out, and the state of tv, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

  Government Sim Trackers
 The US Gov. has sim programs replicating reality for tracking and prediction purposes...

they can enter your 'pattern' into a sim and track you-- if you deviate from the routine you are flagged.

That is, if you did something to deserve this kind of attention....
