CBS-Chief Wants Evening News Revolution: New Format, Jon Stewart Possible

CBS chairman Les Moonves has some ideas in mind for the networks´ evening news format after Dan Rather declared he was to leave the anchor desk. A full scale evening news overhaul with a multi-anchor, perhaps multi-city format could be the result.

Also, to regain young viewers from the internet being turned off by the old-pattern single "voice of God" anchor, a fresh format and fresh faces seems to be the solution. One of these faces could be Comedy Central´s Jon Stewart.

Moonves explicitly didn´t rule out the "Daily Show" anchor as possible candidate. The CBS chief is also co-chairman of Viacom, which owns Comedy Central as well as CBS.

I wonder if the CBS Chief is going to apply pressure (aka threaten) Jon Stewart into accepting this position. Viacom = Baaad.

I want John where he is, on a good show with good writers and comedians.

  I like John Stewart, but...

...he really has no place in a serious news environment.

  John Stewart

Is every bit as credible as the idiots I see on the news. He has an insight that he hides with his humor but its there if you notice it. That said I want him to stay where he is. I thought he signed a multimillion dollar contract for at least another three years.

Might be effective marketing to those who ...

have vision, hearing or mental impairment?

Sad that these vampires would take advantage of them, isn't it?

More about marketing than about news!!!

It might be okay for marketing... but with CBS's recent performances... we'll still be hearing the same shit and watching the same govt-produced 'news' videos... only this time there'll be someone cooler reading the news.
