Apple is aiming for 80% of the Japanese digital music player market and launched its new iPod shuffle there on Monday. Prerelease orders for the device exceeded those for last year's hit, the iPod mini player.
The iPod shuffle, which will retail for 10,000 yen (US$98), will achieve Apple's 80% goal said Apple's Vice President Yoshiaki Sakito.
Apple also plan to open a iTunes music store in Japan this year.
