Scientists have said that research suggests that not making your bed in the mornings could lead to a healthier life. A study by Kingston University has found that dust mites don't thrive in an unmade bed because it is less humid than a made one.
House dust mites are thought to be a cause of asthma, they feed on scales of human skin and thrive in the warm, damp conditions created in an occupied bed. A bed can be home to approximately 1.5 million house dust mites.
Researcher Dr Stephen Pretlove said: "Something as simple as leaving a bed unmade during the day can remove moisture from the sheets and mattress so the mites will dehydrate and eventually die."
