First Death Sentence Under Schwarzenegger Served
 

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger denied a plea for mercy by triple murderer Donald Beardslee, who was given the death sentence for two 1981 murders. This has led to the first death sentence to be carried out in California for three years.

Beardslee received a lethal injection just after midnight at San Quentin State Prison today. Schwarzenegger said that Beardslee had understood the gravity of his crimes. Beardslee's lawyer, Steven Lubliner, said the execution "demeaned everyone."

Approximately 200 people protested the serving of the sentence outside the San Quentin prison.

 That man is the first person in history to be Terminated by the REAL Terminator! That's pretty cool.

I think capital punishment is too merciful. Here in Canada, we don't release our worst criminals into the warm embrace of death. Instead, we let our worst criminals rot away for a maximum of 25 years and then let them go. I think that's far more cruel and inhumane, but maybe Canada dishes out what criminals of that magnitude deserve.

  25 years isn't enough  
 get someone who murders when they're 18, 25 yrs only makes 'em 43, easily young enough to kill again... either lock 'em up for life or end their life

 You how much it cost to keep a person in jail in the USA, 40 to 60 per inmate, times that by 25 years! I dont know how it is in canada, that is comming out of my TAXES!!! If your taxes pay for inmates, think about you are paying for someones food, medical care for 25 years. Kill them all and let god sort them out.

 You remember that game? Duke Nukem knocked me out my chair the first time "Let god sort them out" bleared of of my speakers unexpectantly and far too loud shortly after killing dozens of enemies with a single machinegun sweep.
