Man Arrested and Charged with 130 Counts of Child Porn

Robert Kadel of New Bedford, Mass is facing 130 counts of child porn related charges. A California investigation led authorities to a man living in New Bedford who was actively swapping child porn with their suspect.

New Bedford police discovered at least 100 CDs full of child porn, tapes as well as 2 computers with hard drives full of child porn images. So far Kadel has only been charge with 80 counts of possession but that number is expected to go up.

New Bedford PD has stated that this is the largest case of child pornography that the city has seen.

  Clearly

Those that peddle this filth are sickos. However I am concerned with the vigor that police seem to have for catching people who possess child porn. Again I am not defending them but my biggest concern is catching those who make child porn. Sure it is pretty sick to own child porn but it is nothing compared to those that actually abuse children to create this filth.

We keep reading stories about these weird sickos that collect and swap child porn being arrested. Let's hear some stories about the evil bastards that make it going to jail and sharing a cell with Big Bubba Buggersalot.

How do you get 130 counts....

A count for possession.
1 for distribution.
1 for err... What was that for then...

Seems to me they want to put him away for a while.

Hope they never use this policy for speeding.

1300 counts of speeding.

1 for exceeding the limit by 5mph at point x.
1 for exceeding at x + 1 inch and so on for 100 yards.
Jail this repeat offender for 150years.

Now I'm not saying he should not get punished for possession. That is the law but wtf.

@ZCT. I've only ever heard of a couple of producers getting jailed. Usually their own kids with the missus's help. Sickos. But have heard of thousands caught for having one or two images and having a record for life. Something wrong there.

i think they can count each explicit image as a separate charge.

and i know one of the reasons they like to lock up child porn owners is because those people are fairly likely to move on to molesting actual children, if they're not doing it already. more likely than people with, say, bdsm porn trying to go all bondage on hapless victims. it's also a lot harder to find the producers of the stuff than the consumers so you take what you can get, eh?

i get a kick out of it because rumor is that prison populations hate people who mess with kids, and the kid-messers do not have an easy life in there. heh.

  Also

people with heaps of child porn have often produced some of it themseves, but that is much harder to prove than posession unless you can figure out who the kid is (unless its their own or a relatives kid that can be very hard).

I know in Aus there was a case after a huge bust of a child porn swapping ring where they tried to identify some of the kids but ended up in trouble for sending their images out to schools, so its a catch-22.

Another point, if you catch or scare away all the users there will be no market for the producers (not saing this is feasible, but it has worked here with heroin users)

  The idea is

to use the pictures to identify the children, and from that the abuser, and put that person away for good. Putting away the consumers is just a bonus on the path to getting the perpetrators.

  Worked here for Heroin?

Where is that then....? Most of the Police forces in the Western world would want to get a working process for Heroin users.
