A United Nations official has said today that Lisa Veron-Brunner, 30, a Swiss World Health Organisation worker has been murdered in the Zimbabwean capital Harare. The UN is taking the incident "very seriously."
Local police had originally stated that she died in a car accident, but a post-mortem showed that she was murdered. She had stab wounds to her neck and chest and was found by her overturned car.
United Nations coordinator Festo Kavishe said "We have stepped up security for UN officials and advised the diplomatic corps.. The UN is taking this very seriously.. liaising with different organisations to ensure this case is properly investigated."
