WHO Worker Murdered in Zimbabwe

A United Nations official has said today that Lisa Veron-Brunner, 30, a Swiss World Health Organisation worker has been murdered in the Zimbabwean capital Harare. The UN is taking the incident "very seriously."

Local police had originally stated that she died in a car accident, but a post-mortem showed that she was murdered. She had stab wounds to her neck and chest and was found by her overturned car.

United Nations coordinator Festo Kavishe said "We have stepped up security for UN officials and advised the diplomatic corps.. The UN is taking this very seriously.. liaising with different organisations to ensure this case is properly investigated."

  The best argument

This is the best argument one could find among many not to be helping these people.

  Inestigation?

Any investigation done will be substandard at best and will never result any any justice. The best thing WHO could do is leave the country.

Again one spoils it for all...

One lunatic impacts on a whole country for what may be a random attack.

It's all about risk management. Let the workers themselves make these decisions.

Remember, this is the theory behind the attacks in Iraq. Disrupt the people providing the support and the rest will fall.

Perhaps, but you have to ask yourself, "Are those people really worth helping?" About the only thing they contribute to the world is disease.

Most of them are probably no different from you and me...

Just wanting to get on with life and not wanting too many people coming along and screwing it up further....

There are always the few who want to screw it up for everyone.

  Yeaaaa Catbytes?

So because they are too poor to be able to afford medicine, and all sorts of other things, we shouldn't stop people from killing them? Homeless people here to contribute anything, but I bet you don't run around shooting hobos off the street. If Bush was really concerned about people throughout the world, and not just about oil though, we would be in half of Africa right now.

He went around stabbing people, you're damn right that hobo would be a dead man when they caught up with him.

Africa is a continent of hobos. They are uncivilized and I doubt they ever will be until a "repatriazation" occurs after a sufficient number of them live abroad amongst civilized cultures.

The middle-east would be an improvement, even.

If we put half of the effort we do into attempting to save Africa from itself into our own domestic economies and social problems, we'd have some real improvement, whereas what we are doing in Africa will yield little if any return at all.
