The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has pulled a tsunami game off its web site which was designed to educate children about the phenomenon. FEMA was afraid it would be seen as insensitive to those affected by the disaster last month.
The game was placed on the site in 1998 and it featured a beach which had objects such as a car, surfboard, starfish and other items that had to be put back in their place. Kids who successfully completed it were directed to an animated dancing frog.
After the tsunami, FEMA had immediately removed the game but later restored it because teachers wanted the game back. Teachers who still want the game can contact FEMA. A charity said the game made it look like disasters were easy to repair.
