US and UK Planning Withdrawal from Iraq

According to private memos currently circulating in Washington, Baghdad and London the UK and US are laying out plans for a withdrawal from Iraq as soon as possible.

The memos include the scenario that the new Iraqi government may request American and British forces to leave the region which they will be obliged to do so under UN resolutions.

Military experts pointed out that even if the troops were ordered to pull out today that it would take considerable time to remove troops due to the logistics and scale of the operation.

  how many times

How many times have they said this now?

I particularly love the bit about how difficult it is to move all the troops out of there. It's a pity the British and Americans didn't allow the Russians so much time to get out of Afghanistan , as at the time the Russians pointed out that if they left overnight that a power vacuum would be created and a radical religous government could take over . (That was Gorby... pity no one listened to him eh ? New York’s population would be up 2000 and all this shit could possibly have been avoided.
The response from the US back then was “look your troops rolled in over night, get them out over night" ..... etc etc etc ...

  Relocating

Whats the betting that they are playing a global game of Frogger. They've done Afghanistan, jumped into Iraq - next stop Iran. Bush says they can't go home without reaching a top ten high score.

Well considering US went to afganistan with the UN and to Iraq with out the next logical step is to not go in. But anyway, to get to Iraq from Afganistan you have to go through Iran (unless you take the ocean or jump on a log)

  Well its a scenario

If it was just ground troops, yeah, we can get out over night. Buuut, the logistical feat of moving Tanks, LAVs, Trucks, Helos,Jets, and other assorted goodies over night? Not gonna happen, maybe in 3 or 4 months, but not over night.

  It takes the US...

months to start a war and years to end it. Don't look for any withdrawal for years.

  Retreating while under attack

the more troops that do move out, the more vulnerable the remaining troops will be to the resistence, so this moving out operation can only be overnight, or not at all.

  Since when

did the memo become such an important document. Memo's this, memo's that. Memo's are like the Holy Bible nowadays.

Boss1: Uh hi, yeah, did you get the memo on the TPS reports? Let me get you a copy of that.

Boss2: Did you see the memo about the TPS reports? Here, let me get you a copy of that.

Boss3: Yeah, hi, did you see the memo about the TPS reports?
