Report: Steroids Were Sold on eBay

MSNBC.com conducted an investigation, and found widespread steroid dealing on eBay. eBay countered by removing the listings and threatening legal action against steroid sellers. The investigation lasted three months.

Many auctions openly advertised steroids and a few used ruses like “books about steroids” to disguise what was really being transacted. The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy purchased and tested substances for the investigation.

Anabolic steroids such as Dianabol, Sustanon and testosterone propionate were available. These are Schedule III controlled substances and are illegal in the US without a prescription. Widely abused painkiller Vicodin falls in this category.
