The University of N. Colorado reports it is missing a hard drive which could contain details regarding 30,000 people. Info on the drive includes names, Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, birth dates and names of employee beneficiaries.
While the university does not know if the drive was stolen or if it is simply missing, campus police are investigating the matter. Information on 15,790 former and current employees was also stored on the drive.
The longer it stays missing, the more the University's President is fearing the drive it was stolen. UNC President Kay Norton says: “So we have to assume the worst."
