Al-Qaida Lieutenant Arrested in Iraq

One of al-Qaida’s top Lieutenants has been arrested by Iraqi police officials. Sami Mohammed Ali Said al-Jaaf has allegedly been responsible for 75% of the car bombs in Baghdad, targeting allied and Iraqi forces.

Al-Jaaf was arrested nine days ago, though officials waited until today to make a statement announcing the arrest. The statement said that he was responsible for 32 Baghdad bombings that had killed hundreds.

The statement also said that al-Jaaf had “confessed to building approximately 75 percent of the car bombs used in attacks in Baghdad since March 2003.”

  Well,
if he was arrested 9 days ago, it shows that his arrest didn't stop any bombings. They have increased recently.
I'd say there are dozens, if not hundreds, waiting in line to replace anyone captured or killed.

well i got flamed for saying
well i got flamed for saying the US isn't catching
any terrorists , I'd just like to give a littel detail on
that . I suppose I should have said "terrorist cells" in
retrospect like the hundreds of "sleeper cells!" that
were reported in the US post 911 ...so where are
they ...in Iraq ???

This guy is an obvious terrorist but my point was
the following

is the US catching people with serious evidence to
show they were planning attack in the US ?? This
guy was obviously up to his eyes in it in Baghdad so
he was a threat to Us Marines and Iraqis out there
......what about those who were threatining
Americans in America is any progress being made
there ..

It was an observation that in Europe the Spanish,
Germans British and others seem to be rounding up
suspects on an almost daily basis ..... in the US
either we're not getting the news or they haven't
caught many ...does anyone have an example of a
100% factual Sleeper Cell being found there ??

In my opinion, there aren't as many sleeper cells in the States as in Europe. In Europe they have more freedom to move around and plan (due to the general European attitudes and policies)... They use Europe as their base of operations against the US, i guess... So, it's not that much of a surprise... I would guess they can more easily merge into the society in European countries and so, go unnoticed...

I wouldn't be surprised also, to find out that the arrests made in Europe were done with at least some logistic aid or intelligence from the US

yeah that's what I was thinking It looks like a pretty logical conclusion to say the CIA are passing info on to other Police forces although this hasn't been reported here (not even in the 11-m commission ..oh 11-m is the name the Spanish have given to the bomb attacks in Madrid that killed 197, I was expecting serious international pooling of resources to surface but it turned out to be a farce of an investigation and was used more for political reasons than a detailed account of what happened ) .

I can't help wondering however if they are planning another attack in the US they still have to get there which means they will need places to stay etc and these infrastructures would have to be a quite well established network .

Also it was reported here that the restructuring of the CIA was going to use The Spanish Guardia Civil as a basis for it's structure but that was probably the Spanish slapping themselves on the back and I haven't heard much of it since, if you see a load of CIA agents wearing little plastic hats and mirror sunglasses with huge Saddam style moustaches you’ll know it was true

  how many have U.S caught?
I agree with luker, they always say they caught a person reponsible for that and that and that and that and that...but nothing changes!

  No car bombs here
There are no car bombs exploding in the US guess that means the President has done his job so far. It has been 3 1/2 years since 911 that to me is pretty safe.

How do you figure you were betrayed by our President? Are you free? Do you say and do as you please? Can you come and go as you please? Can you critize our President as you please? When are you going to get over your loss?

  perhaps al-Qaida doesn't exsist
As I have posted previously I have a lot of work on for the next few days so I won’t be able to get into a lengthy discussion but after watching the BBC Power of Nightmares it seems pretty probable that al-Qaida doesn't really exist. Or at least it doesn't exist in the way most people percive..There is no real leader it’s an ideology (almost a franchise) not an organization and there is no massive web of terrorist cells etc etc I suggest you fish it off p2p land somewhere and see what you think. It's not an anti-war style thing very well organized in structure and explains quite well the terrorist ideal, history and how they will inevitably end up destroying themselves.... It answers a lot of questions raised here as well.

  I wonder
what would happen if the US plastered his ugly mug on Al-jazeera TV and told his supporters that if they don't surrender in 10 days they'll execute him... would be nice to see a little role-reversal.. hack off the f*ckers head on their national TV...

  Cobra Command!
You guys ever see the 80s GI JOE cartoon/comics? The Cobra terrorists were an idealised version of a terrorist network-- incredibly easy to spot. They had logos on their helmets and so forth. Rather dumb, but the interesting thing is that they never really had an agenda to push. More like a generic enemy for U.S. patriots to round up and beat into capitulation on a regular basis. Interesting, in a retrospective nostalgic sort of way....

Al Qaeda, on the other hand, has become the catch-all generic brand name for anybody who wants to blow something up.... and Bush/Cheney Inc. was kind enough to point out these connections between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda. Anything is possible when you make your enemies generic enough.

I like the fact that they had a town... Springfield, I believe it was named.... (generic, yes) that was entirely populated by COBRA terrorists, sort of like Disney World's neighborhoods in Orlando area.

Anyway, just pointing out something dumb and sort of off-topic.
