256 people lost their lives yesterday in a stampede during a religious procession to a hilltop temple in India and over 200 were injured.
The tragedy unfolded as some pilgrims slipped and were trampled to death. As news of the deaths circulated in the crowd some angry pilgrims began burning shops which lined the path and provoked the stampede.
There were reportedly 300,000 pilgrims present at the gathering for an annual Hindu festival coinciding with the full moon on Tuesday.
Sounds like Mandra Devi was suffering from major PMS that day. If we ever decide to present an award to the most ignorant people on Earth, we won’t have to look far for the recipients. What a bunch of idiots.

Can't think of a single technology used world wide that came from there. Possibly the inventor of something worth while was killed because she talked back to a man. All first world countries have good to excellent womans rights, most third world countries do not. Might just be a pattern there.
What the hell are you talking about? There is no severe issue with sexism in India.. are you confusing it with Arab nations or something? LOL.. Miss India has won Miss World numerous times and no one cares about the fact that she is walking around in a swim suit. Perhaps you should actually know something about the country you are talking about - India has a 'Hindu' majority.. a religion where sexism has not been any more prominent than other major religions Christianity or Judaism.
Its ISLAM in Pakistan and the Arab nations that repress their women making them wear shawls and cover their faces etc...

I just think its funny you are talking about famous scientists... when you have the sort of funding western countries do, life is a lot easier but even then there were/are many great minds there, do some damned research.
