Japan Sets Auto Production Record

Last year Japan made more vehicles globally than ever before with 6.723 million vehicles being built. This figure is 10.6% higher than the year before. About half the vehicles were made in plants outside of Japan.

Toyota saw its US sales increase by 10.4% to $2.06 million. Toyota spokesman Paul Nolasco says: "We've been able to come out with stimulating products that meet the demands of customers. We're making what the customer wants."

Nissan saw a 8% increase in sales and racked up a total $3.194 million for 2004. Its US sales increased 24.1% thanks to the Murano SUV and Altima sedan. Honda saw a 8.7% increase in the US and sold 3.181 million vehicles.
