A new research paper has been published effectively debunking the 1980’s carbon dating results that declared the Shroud of Turin a fake and dating it to between 1260-1390 AD.
The paper concludes that when the Shroud was carbon dated the sample used was in fact a medieval patch that had been used by nuns to repair it after a fire.
According to the new research not only was the 1980’s study flawed but the Shroud is in fact between 1300 and 3000 years old thus no longer precluding the possibility of its authenticity.
