GLENDALE, CA. - A man's failed suicide attempt resulted in the deaths of 11 people when his antics caused a train collision that injured at least 200 others.
Prosecutors have filed 11 murder charges against 25-year-old Juan Manuel Alvarez, who reportedly parked his jeep on the train tracks in order to kill himself, then jumped to safety in the last moments before a train struck the vehicle.
The commuter train derailed and struck another train. The suspect was treated for superficial injuries, jailed and placed on suicide watch.
