Manchester United Looking at 9 Year-Old

Team officials for a youth Brazilian team in Associacao Desportiva Atletica say Manchester United representatives have requested videotapes showing 9 year old Jean Carlos Chera in action. The media reports FC Porto has expressed interest too.

Team president Adilson Batista Prado says: "Seven or eight European clubs have already contacted us to know more about Jean. They want to know what he is all about, and I tell them he's a phenomenon, probably the best player to come out of Brazil."

On the team's web site, Jean can be seen scoring goals while his teammates and opponents are 13 and 14 year olds. Usually, European Union-based teams wait until one is 18 to sign a player. Two years ago teams were interested in Freddy Adu (14).
