MLB.com is reporting that the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs have completed a trade to send slugger Sammy Sosa to Baltimore for Jerry Hairston and two minor leaguers, pending physicals for Sosa and Hairston.
The Orioles had no official comment on the trade but they are apparently close to bringing one of the most premier power hitters to Baltimore.
Jim Hendry the Cubs GM, has said to MLB.com "there is no deal in place" , Sammy Sosa will earn 17 million dollars this year and have a 18 million option or 4.5 million buyout for 2006, but if traded the 2006 option automatically goes in affect.
