Around four people doing morning laps at 10:15am in Darwin's Palmerston Leisure Centre swimming pool were startled to find themselves taking a dip with a young saltwater crocodile measuring around one metre in length.
The pool was evacuated in record time, and police and National Park officials were called in to remove the young crocodile that was described as being in poor health.
A spokesperson for the centre said: "They (the swimmers) were regulars, they got a bit of a shock". The crocodile has since been taken to a crocodile farm near Darwin. It is believed it may have entered the pool from nearby the Marlow Lagoon.
