Polar Bears Could be Killed by Global Warming

The World Wide Fund for Nature has announced that arctic polar bears and other species are in danger of extinction due to global warming. The WWF said the species’ could be extinct in just decades if nothing is done.

Tonje Folkestad, the WWF’s climate change expert, said: "If we don't act immediately the Arctic will soon become unrecognizable. Polar bears will be consigned to history, something that our grandchildren can only read about in books."

According to WWF research the world will be 3.6 degrees warmer in 2026 than it was in 1750. Eskimos and seals are also in danger.

  Eskimos - Get a clue
I am a 14 year resident of the Arctic and I find it insulting that the native people of the north are still be referred to as Eskimos. The proper name is Inuit (In – u – it) GET A CLUE

  Eskimo:
 1. Eskimo, Esquimau, Inuit -- (a member of a people inhabiting the Arctic (northern Canada or Greenland or Alaska or eastern Siberia); the Algonquians called them Eskimo (`eaters of raw flesh') but they call themselves the Inuit (`the people'))

Yea right, I dont believe it.
For so many years now, even when I was back in high school, the global warming was always said to be effect, that was 18 yrs ago, and nothing serious has taken place yet. oh by the way Jesus is suppose to show up for the next super bowl, and Elvis is still alive, wake up people.

  Eskimo Definition
To start off, I am an Inuk. (singular for Inuit)
I would like to comment on the definition given by lurker. Since your definition stated that Eskimo's are inhabitants of the arctic, would it be true to say that even caucasians living in the arctic are Eskimo's? By that standard, would I no longer be an Eskimo if I left these noerthern regions? Really, even if it is still in the dictionary as Eskimo, than would your people still be nomads?
Do your reasearch before submitting anything, and the person who posted this seems to have Costa Rica as their country, that is nowhere near any arctic regions so I doubt Nuttyprat even has a clue of what she is talking about.

  Inuit or Eskimos
Problem is, I use Inuit by default and sometimes I have to break it down for people and use the word eskimo. I don't want to have to explain that an Inuit is native to the northern artic circle and dresses in warm furs. Hunts whales, seals and other native animal. They also have a very interesting artisic culture just to have them say "Oh you mean an Eskimo" and then have to explain that they call them selfes Inuit and usually don't like the name Eskimo.
